Abstract
Postural instability is a clinical cardinal symptom in Parkinsons’s disease which affects the patients’ mobility and increases their risk of falls. As clinical measurement of postural instability is under criticism and postural control deficits cannot be treated by medication this problem has gaines more importance in movement research as well as in physiotherapy and sports therapy.
Appropriate measurement and optimised therapy of postural instability necessitate knowledge about causes, manifestations, evaluation and previous therapy approaches. This review portrays and discusses these issues.
